Abstract

This article reflects on the reality of life of a group of Papuan indigenous people who live in Workwana village, district of Arso, in Keerom regency. Studies on the village of Workwana have shown both empirically and theoritically that people of Workwana’s lives have changed in many aspects. One of the changes that this study pays attention on is how Workwana people deal with coping strategy to develop sustainably their livelihoods. The strategy shows that people of this place have been struggling using their human capitals and being adapted to the changing situations in order to get survived in the middle of turbulent condition of life. How people of Workwana set the strategy to use the opportunities of livelihoods can be found throughout the article before you.
